Do you have a machine shop/CNC mill and need to clean up some of your parts. Cleaning up a part made out of brass is a simple process, but can be time consuming. I've gathered some tips and guidelines on how to get your parts cleaned without destroying the finish
1. You will want to use an abrasive pad or chemical made specifically for cleaning brass. The best ones are made by 3M, but there are many other brands available as well. You can find these online or at most hardware stores
2. Start with a good clean surface and remove any dust or debris that may be present on the part before starting to clean it
3. If needed, lightly sand the piece down with fine grit sandpaper until the surface is smooth. Do not sand too much though as you may end up taking off more than you want to lose
4. While still being extremely careful not to damage the finish, start cleaning with your chosen product/tool (brass cleaner/chemical/pad) until satisfied with results achieved (depending on type of finish)
5. Once satisfied with results achieved, rinse off all remaining materials using water immediately following application of solution
