I have been working on a project for my lathe that is turning a brass nut. I decided that I wanted to make the nut from 1/4∪ brass and instead of buying it from the store, I decided to make it myself
The first thing I did was measure out the length of brass needed to cover the whole nut. I then cut the brass with a hacksaw, which was surprisingly easy to do. After cutting out all of my pieces, it was time to turn them into bars. This was also pretty easy using a sanding drum and some sandpaper as well as some files. After turning all of my bars, it was time to assemble them into a complete nut! The assembly process wasn*t too difficult either since all I had to do was glue everything together with some glue and clamps.
