CNC stands for computer numerical control. Basically, it is a method of controlling machines by converting information into motion commands using tools like stepper motors, laser cutters, or servo motors. CNC can be used to cut many different materials such as wood, plastics, aluminum and even stainless steel
CNC machines are built with a computer that controls the machine's movements and coordinates different parts of the machine to produce a finished product. A CNC machine may be used to make intricate shapes out of wood or other materials
The main components of a CNC machine include
1) A computer that controls the movement of the machine and coordinates with other components in order to create a final product
2) A power supply (such as an electrical outlet or an inverter) that supplies electricity to run all of the different parts of the machine
3) A router or saw blade that cuts through wood and other materials while moving along an axis (in this case it is usually called X)
4) Lathes (also called mills) which move on X axis and cut down material at an angle so it can be shaped into various objects such as bowls
