How to Drill Holes in Woo
How to drill a hole in wood isn't rocket science, but it does take some practice and patience. If you're not comfortable with the procedure, ask an experienced carpenter or joiner for help
1. Measure the size of the hole you want to make in your piece of wood. Mark the exact center of the workpiece with a pencil
2. Mark where you want your drill bit to go by placing a mark on the center of the wood at a distance equal to one-third its thickness from one end of the board and marking off another third from each end (see Figure 1)
3. Locate your drill bit in relation to these marks, and then use it to bore through both surfaces of your workpiece until its tip is below these marks (see Figure 2)
4. Once this step is complete, remove any chips from around your workpiece using a putty knife or sandpaper wrapped around a pencil or other small object that won't damage the surface of your piece (see Figure 3).
