There are many terms and concepts in metal manufacturing that may be confusing if you are new to the industry. This list explains the most important and commonly used words in the metal forging industry
Applied Pressure - The applied pressure is the amount of force applied to a metal to distort it, usually due to a temperature rise or contraction
Blast Furnace - A furnace that is used for melting a wide variety of materials into molten metal
Bending - Bending is when one section of metal is forced into another section by applying heat while they are still moving slowly together
Bending Rods - Bending rods can be made from steel or aluminum, they have a curved shape, and they are cut at an angle so that they will fit into holes in other pieces of metal. They are used to bend sheet metal during production on an assembly line. They are also used for bending sheet metal after it has been rolled on an extrusion press (an extrusion press uses pressure to force liquids through small tubes).
