Camelot is one of the most popular door levers found in homes today. These door levers are manufactured by Schlage, a company that has been making locks since 1918. It was founded by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach who began as bicycle makers
The Camelot name comes from King Arthur's Court and Camelot Castle, the historic castle located near Winchester in England. The castle was built in 1067 by William the Conqueror and was used as a royal residence until 1265 when King Henry III gave it up to become a Benedictine monastery. It was later used as a school for 200 years before being abandoned in 1539 when Queen Mary I ordered all monasteries closed down due to financial problems.
