Did you know that you can now make steel in space? Not solid, not iron yet. It's a liquid form of metal that's been tested by NASA and they found that it works surprisingly well
The idea of steel being made in space is not new, but this is the first time it's been done in space. The process involves sending up an asteroid with a tank full of molten iron mixed with oxygen, which is then heated to around 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit (1,371 degrees Celsius). The liquid steel is then poured into a mold and cooled down until it solidifies into a block or rod shape
NASA has already sent up several pieces of this new material and they've found that it can hold its shape for up to two years without any problems at all!
