Nice to see Mizuno back in the game with a big launch of their Hot Metal Pro irons. How do they compare against the Callaway Apex forged irons
The Hot Metal Pro irons are definitely more forgiving than the Apex forged irons. The Apex irons have a much higher clubhead speed, which means they have a faster ball trajectory and greater forgiveness. The Hot Metal Pro irons are designed for golfers who want a medium launch angle, as opposed to the low launch angle on the Apex forged irons
The Hot Metal Pro irons feel great in your hands and are very comfortable to hit. They have some pretty aggressive feel at impact and you can easily adjust their loft and lie to get the perfect gap for your swing speed and swing plane
They also have a huge sweet spot which is great for accuracy shots from inside 100 yards out
I would say these irons are aimed at golfers who need more forgiveness than an iron with a higher ball speed like the Apex forged irons (or even hybrids).
