How Fast Does a Steel Forging Machine Forge Metal
There are many ways to determine how fast a forge is, but to learn about some of the ways, we first need to understand how they were built. The most common method for determining how fast a forge is is by looking at its thermal efficiency and comparing it with other furnaces in its class. This is done by measuring the amount of energy that goes into making each pound of steel, and then dividing by the amount of steel produced per hour. For example, if you have an annealing furnace that produces 300 pounds of ingot per hour and you can measure 100% thermal efficiency on your furnace (an unavoidable fact), then you would know that your furnace can produce 300/100 = 3 tons per hour with 100% thermal efficiency. If you were to use another furnace with a different thermal efficiency rating, you would know that 300/90 = 2.5 tons per hour instead!
