Forging is a process of heating metal to a high temperature and then hammering it into desired shape. The most common types of forging are cold forging, hot forging, rolling, and extrusion
Other metals such as iron, steel, copper and tin can be forged by heating the metal and hammering it into the desired shape. The two most common methods for forging metals are cold-forging and hot-forging
Cold Forging: In this method, the metal is heated until it is red hot before hammering starts. This method produces a strong item but at a high cost due to unnecessary heat applied to the object being forged
Hot Forging: In this method, the metal is heated to an extremely high temperature without hammering starting immediately after heating begins. This method produces a stronger item than cold-forging but at a much lower cost due to less fuel used in heating up the metal pieces prior to forging them together.
