Cast and Forged are two terms that are often used interchangeably when it comes to metal. But there's a difference between the two, and knowing what that difference is can make all the difference in your project
Cast Meta
Cast metal is made by pouring molten metal into a mold, where it cools and solidifies. The process is similar to pouring concrete in its early stages (except with concrete, it's dry when you pour it). Castings can be made from many different materials, but they're most commonly made from iron or steel
Forged Meta
Forged metal is created by rolling sheet metal around a die (or forging). The ends of the sheet are pressed down against each other in order to create one continuous piece of metal. This process causes the steel to become more uniform in thickness and composition than casted pieces do, making forged metals more attractive for use in furniture or home d谷cor projects.
