I've always been interested in the history of a company that has made its name on aluminum. You see, I'm a writer, and every now and then I write about what happens behind closed doors at large corporations. So when there's an opportunity to tell people all about one of the most successful companies in the world 〞 Alcoa 〞 I just can't resist
I wrote my first article about Alcoa nearly ten years ago, when I was working for another company in the metals industry and had been invited to speak at a conference in Pittsburgh. The topic was The Future of Metals, which is always a fun topic for me to explore because it really makes me think about how we get from point A to point B 〞 and where we're going next
And so as part of that presentation, I created a slide deck that highlighted some key points about Alcoa's history and its impact on society over time; how it started out as a company that produced brass coins; how it grew into an international corporation; how it became known for making aluminum products; and how it got into business selling aviation parts during World War II (which led eventually to its famous slogan: We make everyday things strong).
