Metal stress relief fo forgings are a type of forging art where a metal bar is being shaped by passing it through a press which forces it down to tighten its surface and remove excess material. The duration for which the material undergoes stressing is called pressure time (PT)
Pressure times (PT) are used to define the time it takes for the material to pass through a given stress level. This is usually measured in millions of cycles per square inch (MPa) or millimetres of strain per year (mm/a). The higher the number, the more rapidly the material passes through that stress level.
