Forging steel is quite a process, but you can make it easier by using a forge in your backyard. The biggest challenge is getting the steel hot enough to melt. You can do this by putting your steel in a vat of water, but that will take forever. You can also put it on top of a fire, but this will heat up the air in your forge so much that it won't be able to get very hot without burning off all of your oxygen
The easiest way to get steel hot is to put it in a kettle and heat it up with charcoal or wood charcoal. This is what most people do when they first start out forging steel because they don't know any better. But eventually they realize that this isn't very efficient and they switch over to using their fire forge instead
If you want to use your fire forge for forging steel, there are some things you need to know about how to care for it effectively so that it doesn't get too hot and burn off all of the oxygen inside of it (which would make it useless).
