I am a big fan of hot metal and so I ended up reading the article about forged vs. hot metal for my blog. It was a great source to share with my readers who are also into forging
The most important thing to know is that there are two types of hot metal
Forged: This is done by hammering and twisting heavy bars together at high temperatures, which results in a stronger material with a more uniform grain structure than cast iron, which requires quenching after forging
Hot Metal: This is done by melting down scrap steel at high temperatures and pouring it into molds to create almost any shape you can imagine!
