A CNC machine is a type of computer controlled device designed to machine separate parts, or complete assemblies. CNC machines are most often used in manufacturing and processing applications, such as woodworking , metalworking , plastic molding and assembly, fabricating components for industrial equipment, machining parts for the aerospace industry and general engineering applications

CNC machines are designed to use computer numerically controlled (CNC) software programs to control the position of the cutting tool relative to the workpiece(s). The computer determines when to move the workpiece based on pre-programmed movements of various components, such as motors and servomotors (servo motors)

The software controls all aspects of the operation of a CNC machine including its speed and feeds. This allows for precise control over cutting parameters such as depth of cut, feed rate and travel speed.
