The United States has been leading the manufacturing world for many years. But this is changing and a new report from IHS says it's going to be manufacturing that powers our future economy
The IHS Global Insight Manufacturing Forecast, released today, predicts global manufacturing will grow at a healthy pace over the next five years, boosted by strong demand for manufactured goods in emerging markets like China, India and South America
"Manufacturing is an important engine of economic growth and job creation in the United States," said Henry Muellner, president of IHS Global Insight. "It accounts for about 10 percent of U.S. gross domestic product (GDP), or about $1 trillion annually."
