CNC machinery is the manufacturing aid that uses computer aided tools to cut, grind and mill different materials with precision. This method of machining is comparable to that of industrial machinery and engineering
The best way to understand this process is by looking at the machines themselves, and how they work. For example, consider a CNC router with a cutter head that can be moved up and down over a stationary part. The cutter head will move left or right along its axis in response to signals from the computer program running on the machine controller (1). The signals tell it which way to move, where to move it and how fast to move it
The cutter head can then remove material from the work piece as it moves in one direction until it reaches a certain limit where it begins cutting in another direction (2). As material is removed in one direction, more material is added at the same time in order for the work piece to remain flat against the table surface. This process continues until all of the required material has been removed from the work piece (3).
