It's time to build a 24x36 inch cnc router for plastic. This project is going to be the biggest project I have ever done, and it was also the most fun building project I have ever worked on
The first thing I did was to build a template for my router out of wood. The template is basically a block of wood with a hole in the middle, which will be used to mount the router to. This makes mounting and dismounting much easier, as well as checking for accuracy
Next, I made a jig out of plywood that had holes drilled into it for mounting the router. This allows me to position the router in any position that I want without worrying about how it will fit into my machine
I then built an enclosure for my router out of plastic so that it would be safe from any harm during operation. The enclosure was 8 feet long by 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall with two 1/2 inch thick walls on each side and one 1/2 inch thick wall across the top and bottom of the machine itself so that there wouldn't be any way for material to fall into its path while being cut by the machine itself (which could lead to catastrophic damage).
