A post describing a plastic milling project I did
I got the idea from watching some videos of other people making things with their CNC lathe and this was my first try at doing it
This is a plastic gear for a computer fan. I used a piece of scrap acrylic as a template and then cut it out with my Dremel. After that, I sanded the edges so they wouldn't be sharp and would fit together well. Then I used a 3D printer to print out some small gears to put in place. The gears were made out of wood because they broke easily when trying to insert them into their holes in the gear shaft. After that I drilled holes through both pieces of wood where they needed to be drilled through, used a file to smooth out any rough edges on the gears, then glued them together with epoxy resin glue and clamped them until they cured overnight (about 12 hours).
