The CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) milling process is not only used to produce parts from raw material, but also to create finished machined parts from the material. In this article, I will provide a brief description on each of these stages and how they can be applied to your milling operation
1) Turnin
In this stage, the part is transferred from the machine tool spindle to a turning center or lathe. The part is then turned in order to create the desired shape or profile. This process can be accomplished manually with a turning tool such as a chuck vice, or through computer control using servo motors and programmed tools.
