The bedfordshire is a county in England, divided between the regions of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. The county borders with Essex, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire
The county is named after the city of Bedford, which is located in its southeastern corner. It borders the counties of Northamptonshire to the east, Buckinghamshire to the west, Leicestershire to the north and Cambridgeshire to the northeast
The administrative centre for Bedfordshire is Bedford; other important towns include Luton and Dunstable. The county can be split into two halves by the River Great Ouse which runs through it. The eastern half has its own elected county council and borough council (Bedford Borough Council) while most of Luton Borough Council lies in the western half of the county.
