The lathe turning tools explained by the most common tool. The faceplate, which is made in a very interesting way, and the chuck, which is a piece of metal with holes for holding the workpiece
The faceplate has two flanges that hold the workpiece in place when you are turning it. It also has a center post that holds the tool in place while you are turning. The tool rests against these two flanges as you turn it so that it doesn't slip out of position while you are working with it
The chuck holds a piece of wood or other material so that it can be turned around inside it without falling out.
