A basic description of how a rotary engraver works
A rotary engraver is a machine that uses a rotating, cutting tool to carve wood or other materials into shapes, such as letters and numbers. The tool can be moved forward and backward along the path it has carved, following the direction of the motion of the motor. For example, if the motor moves in one direction, then the cutter will move in the same direction
A rotary engraver has two main components: an arm that moves up and down and a cutting head that moves left and right. The arm is attached to a carriage on which the head rests.[1] The carriage holds several tools: one for each cutting area (left, right, top and bottom).
